Why do so few countries send a football team? I don't recall any talk about Team GB men or women at these games, yet Germany managed to send a team and nearly win gold. I see that as a blessing given the pitiful Euro's performance from the men's team . . . . . we can do without them bringing Team GB down! Good match between Germany & Brazil I thought.  |

Didn't Team GB do well. 27 Golds, just two short of the London haul in 2012 and we've won more total medals in Rio than London. Still got the chance of one more gold in the boxing tonight |

You are probably right Perpetua . Although I'm still mystified why there aren't more teams. Probably because most 'professional' soccer players wouldn't dirty their socks, or get out of bed without a damn big payday waiting for them  One reason I have time for Andy Murray, although he comes across as a miserable bugger sometimes, he doesn't need the money but you can see the pride in him, whether it's the Olympics or the Davis Cup.  |

They would then think about only allowing a GB team into internationals (eg World cup, European Champs, etc.) A matter of national pride would not allow the independent FA's of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to do that. Maybe if we had a Team GB team we might actually win something. You wouldn't need to worry about the SFA, as there wouldn't be any Scottish players in a GB team coz they are shite and not good enough. They would be overqualified for England then. |
