There's always brawling at ASDA. It's ASDA.....init. ??? Never mind; we Aldidly customers know how to conduct ourselves. With a boot in the groin and an elbow in the throat, we make sure such bargains can be got in a more discreet and gentlemanly fashion.

I know that pub, used to drink there occasionally. Iirc, the flat roof of it was left behind when the tenement building above it was demolished (you see a few buildings in Glasgow like that). The roof was never designed (if designed isn't too strong a word) to take the downdraft of an emergency landing of a flaring-out chopper (and that's asssuming the pilot had any choice in the matter). I suspect engine failure, followed by a desperate attempt to keep the thing fluttering at all and get it down on the street. He was so close to managing that - what a bugger. I see the usual journalistic bollocks were being spouted; like an attempt at landing on the pub roof - for god's sake, no sane pilot would ever attempt that, at night, in a crowded city environment, with all the invisible cables strung everywhere, never mind the likely casualty figures. I doubt if any of the people in there were anyone I knew - it was thirty years ago. I certainly hope not, but my commiserations and sympathies go to the victims and their relatives. Such unexpected and unlikely events are a total shock, in every way.
Also, it raises a real question that's been bugging me for years - why on earth are polis choppers allowed to fly over inhabited areas (and especially cities) at night? Makes no sense to me, as it's well known in aviation that the helicopter is nothing more than a flying accident waiting to happen.

Not being facetious, but have you tried earplugs? When I was shift-working I found them to be very effective.

NEUROTIC...? Just bought some juice from Fasttech, it was much cheapness and I was feeling quite jolly I'd bagged a bargain (taste test to follow). Then while my attention was drifting in and out of The Vampire Diaries I thought about the Tsunami and subsequent explosion at Fukushima Nuclear Plant. The distance between Hong Kong and Fukushima is 1891 miles and I'm thinking could there be a chance gear from that part of the world could pose a health risk...? Can you imagine the irony... gave up ciggies only to get cancer for contaminated ejuice. Nah; by the time the radioactive water seeping out of the crippled plant reaches the shores of China, it will be hardly noticeable. You'd probably be in more danger from eating shellfish plucked from the Irish Sea.

Finally got to use my refund from FT tonight - a moment of disbelief and pissed-offed-ness ensued when two of the gift certs came up as expired and I was 'WTF'? Anyway, the others hadn't expired and all told they totalled what FT owed me, so that's all right in the end. So, I shall continue to do business with them, after all. Although quite why they couldn't have stuck to their promise in the first place, I don't know. I suspect trouble arose when it was handled by two or three different people, each with their own interpretation of events and attitudes to them.

Hi i am on my motorbike all year round and i dont think its cold Ditto - but today is the first day of the thermal long-johns for me. First frost of the year last night, and I'm really feeling it in my feet. Oddly enough, I don't feel it on the bike, just when I'm sitting around.

Haven't even heard the weather today ....just know I had my heating on for 2 hours this am Is this the sign of things to come? any idea when it will snow (snaw) JAne Often I get a feeling about it if it's going to be a hard cold one, but I can't say I have that yet. Of course, it might be one of the years I don't get that feeling and it happens anyway, so there y'go.
