Interesting stuff but I actually own my bathroom etc. Attempting to pay a fair wage for a fair days work looks to be very difficult on either aspirations.
I'm beginning to visualise now the boot of my car filling up with tiles, adhesive and bathroom bits...as with other projects. Perhaps I'll get lucky and find some useful/honest soul?

And everything about the rabid application of VAT angers me...very much! you know what always amuses me about that is they insist on cash for the work because despite overcharging for the labour they wont be declaring more than £200/day in income and that will be vat inclusive.....funny thing about vat charges though, self employed contractors almost always charge it but rarely are any of them vat registered making their charging of it less than kosher Think HMRC call that "the missing contractor" or similar nanotm

daveBecause I have a great aversion to the High St usuals - Screwfix, B&Q and Argos I look around a little further. Not an easy job. However, a Toolstation was opened very close recently and I am trying this: www.toolstation.com/shop/p36353?searchstr=usb%20chargerNot keen on the Screwfix LAP brand. They are all pricing this stuff too high for what it is generally. And safety issues bother me since I cannot fully trust anything printed on these things.

If it helps i've just had new bathroom and toilet fitted, east london so not far away and it worked out to about £600 a day, but they did do long days, if you want there details PM me. MP Bit spendy mart166. Whats that for ...all bits, labour and VAT? Time on the mobiles? I had a non Brit sparky(?) try it from N. London. So I asked if something went wrong with his work would he come and fix. Answer was..nothing to go wrong. Yeah right! My concern was the distance and ease of travel etc. Don't answer the question do they? And everything about the rabid application of VAT angers me...very much!

That's a joke. £250 a day gets you most things around here. That's a short day mind you. If a job is genuinely 8 or 9 hours you can figure £300, maybe even £350. Asking £100 an hour is crazy. A one off "call" (something that takes half an hour) fair enough. 120 grand a year for doing normal hours? No way. what region/area is that @djs

calnorth I've just read all those prices out to my 'ol man who refurbishes bathrooms/kitchens etc etc and he burst out laughing. All he charges is 15 euros an hour no matter what time of day or at weekends. The highest charge he's got is a 50 euro call out charge, but for normal everyday fitting of bathrooms etc it is simply 15 euros per hour. He just said "at those charges we need to move back to the UK so as to get rich" haha LOL toots..your man could be flown back and forth for this looney money. I just edited the ad on their website to say include your charges and whether VAT included. P*ss takers everywhere!

Think you need to shop around as thats taking the p#ss. I know its not the same but our window fitters earn a max of £150 a day, so £90 and hour to fit bathrooms is having a laugh. Check a trade Thats what I thought @windows. I helped a friend with IT stuff who owned a DG company and its about £150/day for the fitters. This guy's feedback shows a court case under way where the customer thought she was paying for all of a small bathroom fit at £2.5K. The final bill came in at £5.3k. I certainly will be shopping...a lot!

Just got a response from a Bathroom Fitter/Plumber on MyBuilder.com which surprised me as regards charge rates. This is about a 2mtr * 2mtr bathroom that needs re-tiling/new bath...the usual.
I am surprised at this: (this is from his profile and is charge per man)
Standard half-hourly charge £45 (9am – 5pm) weekdays
Evening half-hourly charge £50 (5pm – 8pm) weekdays
Night half-hourly charge £55 (8pm - 12pm) weekdays
Saturday half-hourly charge £50 (9am – 5pm)
Sunday half-hourly charge £55 (5pm – 8pm)
I'm not used to tradesmen charging about £700/day for labour and likely VAT added. I was hoping to employ someone this time instead of my standard DIY approach. I'd say this is a 3 to 4 day job
I would of thought £150/day max for labour? This is South East London (Greenwich).

Today in my FT tracking: www.directlink.com/en/Pages/home.aspx24/03/16 20:59 "Due to recent terrorist activities in Europe, increased security measures are now in force indefinitely.Your package may be delayed due to these precautions. We apologise for any inconvenience caused." Just kill terrorists...constantly!

Just ordered batteries from Fastech and they now have Sweden post as an option Comment on FT: "same list and shipping as TNT-PostNL ....PostNL is owned by Sweden Post... and PostNL owns Direct Link...so basically same thing as before except their smaller logistics company is doing the shipping , but very slow and with problems pointed out by many still waiting for the shipments from February...FT...U really haven't done anything with this announcement,,except some eye wash to make it look good for you, like U have a new shipper but really don't.." Here: www.fasttech.com/forums/shipping/t/2070316/registered-airmail-of-sweden-post-is-able-to-shipGearBest the same way with Ned post.....yawn!

Hi I have a pc running on Windows 10 is used to be 8.1. Can I buy a windows 7 pro key and install it on my pc? I find 10 and 8 absolutely rubbish. Cheers tsoko Win10 is more or less Win 7 with a newer front end for the social/media lovers. I default mine to a pretty much Win 7 Pro lookalike. I did think I was going to dislike it...its ok. And I come from the 1st Windows days and that was tat! Depends what you use it for really.

From my experience of Kanger and Kayfun tanks an air pressure differential has to exist. Lower than external atmospheric pressure in the tank itself. External air will try to equal the differential and when it does juice is out.
If the tank seals are ok its a problem of inadequate wick density I think. The wick is the only element of the tank that blocks the holes from the atomiser into the tank itself. The Kayfun V3 body screws down onto 2 seals to top fill, thus preventing air entering the tank from the atomiser. It escapes (displaces) thru the top as you fill. The kanger bottom fill is a bit hit and miss and depends on the wick as mentioned. Breaking seals to fill is not so good in my view.
Get the wick right and its all good until the wick looses density...burnt/shrunk?

It would be a tourer,i am sick of looking at over priced rents for flats and the ones that are affordable are in areas where i wouldn't sleep at night.I'm wanting to stick it in my parents garden for now,i know there are regulations for outside dwellings but i'll cross that bridge, just need my own space. Interesting. I wondered about the regs on that. Opposite me is a 20 foot thing (double axle) and parked on the front garden..or what was a garden. Its powered by a cable laid on the ground. It also has a Discovery and ex Army tented trailer parked with it. This arrangement blocks all light into the house front window. Nobody lives in it whilst parked and it might do a single outing per year. I've seen a 230v cable laid out (house to remote garage) 30 mtrs away for battery charging. That cable sat in about an inch of water for quite some time with people having to access their garages nearby. A word with that person wasn't particularly good!

Sorry i was thinking more long term so an open window is no good. Its an underground armoured cable. So nobody but a JCB driver can wreck it. And that would likely need wiring into your consumer box. You'll need a qualified electrician.
