Tell me about it, that particular item was shipped via DHL and when DHL is involved we always have a customs charge - irrelevent of the cost of the item. Wacom was supposed to have sent a packet of 5 pen nibs with the pen but they forgot to pack it in the parcel. When I contacted them they said they would send these pen nibs out separately - I told them not to bother as I didn't want to have to pay any more customs charges for something as small as pen nibs. I ended up ordering these pen nibs from China with no customs charges added Its cause the canaries are outside the EU VAT agreement (but inside the EU for travel and legislation) kind of like Gibraltar and channel Islands so even a person in the UK will be liable for VAT from British territories I listed. To further add confusion for UK people Isle of Man is not part of the UK or the EU its a crown dependency. But in the UK I wont be charged VAT for items from there as they have a VAT agreement with UK Which highlights the inconsistency of the whole thing...no wonder closer integration (cuffs) is definitely on the agenda.

I was buying quite a few of my concentrates plus little bits & pieces and a couple of mods from Spain fairly regularly till one of the packages suddenly acquired a customs charge of over 17 euros So now I have gone back to buying those items from the UK as I don't get any customs charges when the UK sends anything over. It's real stooooopid when the Canaries are a part of Spain but we get charged custom fees for stuff bought from Spain - don't make any sense to me The only other thing I've bought from another EU country, Germany, was a wacom pen for my bamboo designing pad - got clobbered with customs for that too. Damn pen cost 30 euros and I paid another 30 euros in customs fees on arrival, so it cost me double the amount in the end. I found out later I could have ordered one from Amazon UK cheaper and with no fear of customs fees I don't know what would happen if the UK came out of the EU - I suppose I would get clobbered with customs charges when ordering from there - probably would be far cheaper for me to take a trip to the UK with an empty suitcase, fill it up with litre bottles of VG & god knows how many bottles of concentrates etc than to get the stuff posted out That customs fee isn't right unless the shipping docs show no german vat charged at source? Looking at stuff of minor value quite closely..aren't they? If we go out of the EU I would have thought that VAT would not be double charged, then it moves to import duties.

Yep good ole BT again. To be fair their uptime is pretty reasonable, but their customer service is diabolical... the sooner they get it back from Asia, and hand it to a sweet talking Scottish or Geordie girl the better. I still can't access my account on their website after years of trying, I just gave up speaking to 'John' from 'who knows where' simply because we couldn't communicate. One thing that did worry me today was although I didn't intend to go online until tonight, the fact that I couldn't, really wound me up. Have we become so dependent on the web for everything?... and how easy it would be to create chaos if a 'core' cable or other connection was disabled by 'you know who'. I suspect we are a few steps away from comms catastrophe. Virginmedia in my part of the W. Mids was on its ar*e for 7 hours today. And is bad now, likely rolling into tomorrow. How hard is it to fix this stuff....all those experts about (and where exactly?). The problem with subbing to India is very apparent...Talk Talk lost control of UK personal details a short while back. Trouble is where can u go when all the dogs are at it?

Not a huge amount, but I have bought brewing equipment and a couple of atties not available or cheaper than UK. How things might change in the future will very much depend on if we exit. Currently imports are not subject to UK VAT as duty was paid in the original EU country. If we leave and even if we have no import tariffs, the UK will want to charge VAT as they do for USA stuff, but not Chinese for some reason, so I expect a 20% hike in prices, which will make them too expensive in most cases. Yep...the 20% VAT charge on goods and shipping charge + HMRC handlers fee (£10 Parcelforce) and which I saw often. Not mentioned in debate. Thats stuff declared over £25 as I remember. Extraordinary really since politicians are hell bent on destroying small business in this country against obvious odds. Anyway, its the intensity of ordinary business we do with the EU I seek. I always found Germany expensive (D Mark days), but I think thats worse under the Euro? Italy is no longer cheap I'm sure?

Now we have Tusks efforts:
As a matter of interest what do people here buy from EU Europe apart from cars/vans, holidays and villas(?). I have lived there for 7 years way back then so had no choice really and got hooked on VW Beetles. I knowingly bought a Karcher steamer in last 2 years that was £90 cheaper than rip off Britain. Anybody?

If you do buy one can you please let us know if your'e able to successfully verify its authenticity on the Nitecore website. charger.nitecore.com/validationI bought a D4 last week and the CAPTCHA code (2nd input box on page) keeps failing. Have emailed them at their info@ address, but nothing so far. Iv'e hammered this D4 with different battery charges and so far has not had an early death. It appears to be original...but? Just pinging them for you nitecoreuk Thx

Anyone aware of the fee he took for presenting children in need? £1300 an hour. In addition to £800K of license payers money for a few hours a day of alcohol fueled blather on the radio. He's resting peacefully, and always has been. I was aware of quite a few others and the BBC was good for a grab...still is unfortunately! I hope this ain't going to be a Bowie shrine on radio/tv/media thing again. Radio 2...off Parkinson anybody...or a free Parker pen.

Hi Perpetua O/T-ish sorry...UKFlavours website. Any idea whats happened there apart from the security cert? Them injuns again! "SORRY! You are seeing Apache default page". Hello calnorth . Seems to be working fine now . . . . just tried to get on and the tab opened up all ok, quicker than it has been opening for a time I found. Hopefully any issues are now resolved. That host seriously slugs their site and it isn't a very big site at that. Yours v. rapidly piles in, even via wifi. Thanks for the info...need some stuff of course.

I think I can remember what was once on the back of MS OS CDs. It was largely "its all at your risk because you bought it". So if anything goes wrong and you are damaged please FoxTrot Oscar!
As regards data monitoring by MS. If "they" took your personal stuff off then they may get close to IPR infringement...if you had the money to pursue. However, all that Cloud stuff and use of online functions via mobiles is simply asking for trouble. Sony!
Pinching data packets is largley dumb when you can easily steal directly from corporate servers with the aid of insiders. Thats how HMRC work...for one.

B Road Blaster
It would've perhaps. Where the King vid is above there was a vid posted entitled: Prince - Little Red Corvette
Within the time it existed and was subsequently removed I stuck up Dave Berry...Little Things, compounding an error I think?
So, I'll give up here and spend a lot of time in corners...or find the fridge and vape with a pile of cider. Sorry about all that.
