As a 50 a day rollie man I need to know which is strongest and which 'beginners' kit is best.
I read all the threads on the 'dark side' but I just need advice from the ground up.

Now I'm not being rude, but I have to ask you, does size matter? By that, I mean, do you want a small e-cig the same size as a real cig or are you happy to go for a slightly larger bulkier one?

I am a newbie here myself, and cannot believe that I could possibly advise anyone yet!, anyway, used to smoke 20/30 rollies a day- I think that you would want to look into buying something like 32mg e-juice to top up with- this is what I have bought to start with and I am thinking it too high- I don't mean bad side effects/headaches or such, just feel a bit nicotined out (which I never in a SQUILLION years thought would ever happen to me!)

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a Riva or eGo type kit for a heavy smoker such as yourself. They are larger than the starter e-cigs we recommend to most people but you're going to need something a little more heavy-duty than some people.
You'll need a high strength e-liquid to start too.
It's a complex subject when you first embark upon it, so a friendly forum where you can ask questions is a must and Chrissie's forum here is without a doubt, one of the friendliest you'll find.
More peeps will be along shortly to help further with your questions (I am wary of suggesting too much stuff as I am a vendor and I don't want it to look like I am recommending with bias).

Hello Grandad from an ex rollie chainsmoker, and welcome!

When I started vaping in Oct 08, "High" strength was 16-18mg and it worked for me. Now you can get as high as 36mg (even higher if our James does a special for you) but I think that Beeper's warning should be heeded - although, if you buy some 36mg out of paranoia you can always dilute it with Vegetable Glycerine (from chemist or supermarket baking shelves) or buy some very low nic juice and mix them.

Before going any further we do need to know if you want an e-cig resembling a real cig ("analogues" is the jargon for real cigs), in fact if you are not short of cash I'd say go for a 901 Mini kit now and then you can assess how you want to go on.

This is the best forum I've ever come across for it's easy-going, helpful and friendly posters.

I started with the dse901 and haven't had a single puff of a real cigarette since I first received the ecig in February this year.

Never, never, never thought I'd ever manage to quit smoking, but with help from here I've done just that for over six months so far....

Thank you all for your warm welcome. Many years ago the ex and I decided to give up. long story but we lived apart but were 'together', if you get my drift. I couldn't hack the giving up and some of the scrapes I got into trying to convince her I was still 'smoke-free' Worst was going down to that London to record 15-1 quiz show. Anyway! Black and white. Newbie here also, 40/50 a day, John Player Special. Joined mid June, with a few others on the forum at the same time.

At that time we all went for the Riva. But....the Tornado is virtually the same and if you act now, you will get it for half price at £25. You will also need some juice. The Tornado kit comes with some pre-filled carts of none, low, med and high nicotine. But for me they weren't stong enough. So refill with your own juice. I buy Benson Fences from James at 36mg strength. £22 for a 60ml bottle. You might like to get some "sample bottles" of different flavours though.

Grumpy, if you don't mind the e-cig being bigger than a real cig, then as others have recommended, go for the Riva. The larger batteries you get with it will last much longer between recharging than a mini e-cig. It is however, a bit more expensive.

Hi Grumpygrandad - I'm a MagicGrandma !! - I've been following Chrissie & Scyll around since this all started.

You will get all the help and encouragement from the folk in here and will be able to vape away without your distant OH complaining at all.

I now find the high strength juices too strong so use lesser ones but even add glycerine to that.

Maybe buy a 36mg strength for the morning & a lower strength for afternoon & evening?

That's what I do & I find it works well. By evening, I'm usually vaping 18mg strength.

Get a couple of 5ml sample bottles to start with. James' Drum is a decent choice, others like his L&B.

Also, if you want some visual help, search your topic on youtube. Loads of good vids on there, especially igetcha69 (Scott). He's straightforward & easy to understand.
