My last comment on the forum and thanks to the op for starting a great topic.
I think this came mainly from the 510n mod failures which is not home made but from a rather poor but large manufacturer. I just hope for the safety of others that they modify the mod and certain people (not here) stop telling people to buy it. Unfortunalely not every vaper reads the forums to see where dangers lurk with cheap chinese crap.
Bye

The only mod I now own is a GGTB. I have never really been interested in other "home made" mods. No offence, but I prefer quality over quantity.
I purchase my juice via James as I pretty much know what I am buying & it's hand mixed & fresh. I very much doubt I'll be getting into mixing my own juice, as I have no clue what I am doing & I feel it's a risky undertaking.
As for atties, tank atties & Riva/Tornado batteries, I just have to trust the vendor & hope they are buying from relatively reptuable manufacterers. Same with other batteries & chargers.
I am not concerned that the issues brought up in this thread will have an affect on whether e-cigs get banned. I just want to enjoy vaping for the time being.

i look forward to this as i feel this could go on and on and as a supplier i want to be doing the right course of action for my customers to give both them and myself peace of mind. Thank you for taking this on hifistud No problem - I think it's one of the most important threads we've had for a while - it would almost be criminal not to take it on!! I'd love it if you'd participate, too - I really want to get all sides of the debate. yes this is a very important issue and i like many other vendors want to do the right thing and operate safely

I use only 2 suppliers and both have been outstanding any issues i have had they have resolved very quickly. they want to improve the quality of the goods all the time and when i have a faulty unit i send it back so as they can look what caused the fault and fix it so as future products do not have that issue. I also fully test the units before they go out so as i know i am sending out a first rate product but there will be times when a fauly may happen its then down to good customer care to fix the problem for the customer

Just want to add for those who think mods with wired up batteries are less safe or those who only buy quality mods like gg's.... dont be fooled with what mod you have thinking its better than the home made ones or the batteries you buy are from a reputable vendor are any better.
I want to give an example and have to admit i don't know all the details but enough.
My favourite vendor Lisa from cloud nine used to be the GG vendor for the UK. She no longer sells them for a reason.
For some of you ..... a gg blew up when she was using it and it blew her head off. For others ..... she had a battery vent whilst vaping which didn't blow her head off.
So people don't be fooled because your a fan of shiny mods from whichever vendor and don't try to put modders or non gg makers down and think their mods are less safe. Most batteries are made in China and regardless if they are protected with the thousands of batteries produced daily there will always be a problem eventually.
Personally i think people like to exagerate with things blowing up or wanting to point the finger at the vendor too easily without taking any self responsibility.
P.S ..i own 2 gg's before the smart comments appear telling me i'm anti gg.

@meagan... neither of those are the reason Lisa stopped retailing GG kit. And as far as I'm aware, Lisa's never had a battery go postal on her either in a GG or anywhere else - and I'm pretty certain I'd have known.
As far as batteries are concerned, there are many non-protected 18650s shipped from China in certain devices. Frankly, there should be absolutely no unprotected li-ions that aren't IMR or other safe chemistry batteries shipped at all.

Hifi ..... i guess lisa was telling me lies then ... but you'll know better than the conversation we had regarding the subject because you know or should everything that happens in the e-cig world it seems. Maybe give Lisa a call to ask if she's been telling people lies. Maybe ask your mate imeo if he's ever had any liability claims placed against him or his products?
???

Sorry and apologise for the misunderstanding with my last post ...i just read back and Lisa got burned from dealings with the GG mod but not burned in the sense of fire / heat burn but in a business sense ..... but if you use dodgy batteries in any device ....i'll go sit in the corner
