chrisjw - well thats a bit odd! Maybe I was unlucky and got one that wasn't machined right? It's basically to big to screw any chimney bases I have on. Can get them half to one turn and then no further. Same with tank sections and one of my bellcaps. I do have one bell cap that fits on it fine though. (p.s I don't have zillions of KF parts, but have tried 3 diff chimney bases, and 2 diff tank sections, also 2 bellcaps - one of which fits).

Try using a smear of vaseline on the thread & screw it on bit by bit........screw down 2 turns, turn back one & keep repeating until it turns smoothly.....or a drop of washing up liquid......just rinse it afterwards. Did you give the base a clean in warm soapy water before using it?.....I normally use an old toothbrush as well.......you'll often get a bit of swarf on the threads from new. Yep, I always strip 'em right down, then leave to soak in some Milton solution for a few hours. It always amazes me to see the little globules of machine oil floating around. Sort of like a dirty lava lamp

I think you might just be unlucky spacey, I have two of these bases and they simply substitute the original bases seamlessly. Chris' suggestions about vaseline or Fairy liquid, with a good rinse out afterwards are good ones, as is the old toothbrush trick. You are right, it is amazing to see so much oil from the lathing process appear when you wash them for the first time, but the toothbrush will help to shift the more stubborn muck and might move on the swarf and detritus from the manufacturing too

I was so looking forward to trying this base out so hopefully yours and Chrisjw's suggestions will work

This I have and it keeps your kayfuns MTL but you can get more out of them, deeper juice channels and 2 adjustable air holes. The monster one linked has no adjustment and looks to be more for DTL but yet to try.. The airholes look to be excessive, it will be throttled by the intake on the deck and then the chimney anyhow. letsavit or anyone else that has this - just wondering if you had any issues with chimneys and tanks/bellcaps not fitting on this base? I was about to build a coil and have a go on my one (finally!) when I realised that none of the chimney bases I have will fit on it, and only one bellcap will fit. No tank sections that I have, or my other bellcap will go on If you have a chimney base that fits could you give me a FT linky? Just to be clear - not talking about the monster base, am on about the one linked above. Cheers first one fine. ordered 3 more that turned up just before holiday. all 3 the threads are cut wrong, both chimney and bases and I have many kayfun parts. bad batch, fasttech giving me bollox as usual, want filming etc. so next month they won't of turned up!!!

Ahhhh I must have one of the same batch. At least I now know that no further amount of scrubbing or lubricating the threads will make a scrap of difference How annoying!!

letsavit, spacey, I received 2 bases today, 1 is perfect, the other has oversize thread, hence i have exactly the same problem, and there is no way that scrubbing threads or smearing with vaseline, and trying to screw on chimney, will rectify the fault. Just hope that the `monster` base I`ve ordered does not have the same problem.

Not had much luck with these bases except the first one, a normal two hole. 3 after thread cut wrong with the rigmarole of returning Didn't over do it, just tightening the positive deck that was loose, least and insant refund this time....

Definitely a bad batch of threads on the 2 hole "normal" base. linkShame as it gets a bit more vapor for us MTL kayfun users....

I got a couple of the monster ones, work flawless for me for whatever reason, maybe because I stuck one on the ft kafun, who knows.
I'll need to see how they fit the genuine kayfun, haven't tried that yet
