Same problem here - usually I only taste a flavour when it is new.
30 years on the fags has knackred my taste buds good and proper.
The one thing I can guarantee to taste is anything with DV mentholyptus.
Otherwise, find best results just after brushing my teeth or eating an apple.
Never tried going back on the stinikies to try and improve the taste of my juice though - I'm guessing it didn't work.
Off the shelf juice is always too weakly flavoured for me so I got into homebrewing where I can add the amount of flavourant I need to evoke a semblance of taste.

Little tip those coiler tools work best with wire that is 26AWG or thicker, you can get away with thinner wire but you have to be very careful when wrapping to prevent the wire overlapping on itself. I'll second that - never successfully used mine to make a 30AWG coil using the winder cap. I just use mine as a mandrel and wind the coil by hand.

LOL glad to see you coming over to the bright side at last. I too tried out some of the early rebuildables with god knows what gauge of Nichrome wire, silica wick and all the wrong tools (before I got my specs too). Nearly drove myself mad fiddling around, shorting batteries and generally not getting a good vape. After a few years on cartos and stock coil clearos, got fed up with the shifting sands of new improved version x with incompatible coils and started recoiling my own then moved into cheap clone RTAs. Second time around it seems a lot easier and it certainly is a lot cheaper. Plus you can tune your coil to the vape you want.

TBH I didn't even try with my KF3 clones. Trapping round wire is hard enough. Get yerself a Doggy and try it with that.

So I bought some ribbon wire, 0.1x0.5 mm and notionally equivalent resistivity to 30AWG, which is what I usually prefer to make coils around 1.8Ohm for MTL vaping. Tried it out in a few attys so far and find that it is a bit easier to coil with than regular wire, though the finished coils are a bit longer than with round wire. They are a bit sturdier when wicking and rewicking - coils with round wire (especially at 30 AWG) often break during this process or get deformed and pop when dry burning. On the other hand, the tiny. tiny screws on some attys (e.g. KF3) make it tricky to trap the wire properly. Likewise, can't be used for rebuilding stock coils for clearos, they simply won't fit inside the coil head. For attys with fatter screw heads, like the NarDA or Doggy style RTA, trapping is not a problem. There is a definite improvement in vapour and flavour due to the increased area in contact with the wick, not earth shattering but noticeable. At £1.63 well worth a punt as a stocking filler when ordering from FT.

I've also tested the MAP code on some items and it gives a better discount - the price box will will say "The actual price is so fabulous we can't show it! Enter coupon code MAP in the shopping cart page to see our unbeatable price."
Example linkYes, it got me $3.61 off, which is more than 10% of my order total before the code was applied. It just depends how much stuff you are buying and you have to test each code to see which gives you better deal, though we're talking pennies at my level of tightwaddedness

One last thing to check is a different tank - it could be your coil is shorting and causing problems. You don't want to risk knackering another mod.

hhhmmmm. As it's not genuine i doubt it will be able to use the Arctic Fox firmware so i think i will just have to bite the bullet and order another Pico mod Since you are using Arctic Fox, would it be worth a try to refresh or update the firmware?

Never tried it myself, but I've heard good reviews.
Be honest though, if you could've got the coils you wanted, you'd have taken them and been happy (and slightly better off).
The main reason I got into rebuildables is that I got fed up of seeing my stock coil clearos and tanks being obsoleted by the 'out of stock' signs.

the doggy has surprised me buy how easy it was to build and how good it tastes but you gota bottom fill the puppy Yes, I would have thought the cloners could have come up with a top fill version of the Doggy and gained an all time favourite. Then again, it's so cheap bottom filing isn't so much of a hardship.

yourgurnard - I also wonder if many people see vaping as a hobby or interest whereas smoking was just a habit? That could account for more people trying more new kit and gizmos and certainly different whereas the "analogue" cigarette pretty much came in a set format? Well, unlike smoking there are considerable improvements to the experience to be had from a little blokey (or girly) tinkering. So if it becomes a kind of hobby at least there are tangible benefits. Come Armageddon I'll at least be able to wind a coil, which could be useful.

I prefer to be a late adopter - pick upgrades when they are cheap and the wheat has been sorted from the chaff.
Stuck with cartos and carto tanks until cartos became hard to find. Used some nice clearos until I got tired of the constant redesigns (and the new coils needed). Now have some low end VW mods and a set of cheap clone RTAs.
Happy with my setup and not planning on many new purchases for the foreseeable.

Grab yourself some 30 or 28 AWG kanthal, you will fined it easier to get close to your preferred resistance. Though being thinner it won't be so sturdy. Agree with others, it sounds like your problems may be more related to wicking, which is basically a knack you develop to know how much is enough. Persevere - it took me a while to really get the hang of it, but when you do you will be glad that you never have to buy stock coils or prebuilt ones again

Is it possible that the battery level in the new mod is miscalibrated? Does one of these discharged cells still show as discharged in a different mod?

I suppose it could be converted to nitroglycerine*, though you'd have to be a total numbnuts terrorist to go get it at Boots when there are so many places selling it in bulk, for cheap online with no questions asked.
The War of Terror has a lot to answer for.
* good luck not blowing yourself to smithereens trying
