Have you had problems with any of the atomisers that you own? I don't mean problems with re-coiling etc, I mean problems with a particular brand or type that consistently occurs! I have 2 Protank 2's, a Protank 3 and a Protank Mini. All suffer the same problem, after a couple of fills with a new coil, (rebuilt or new), they all gurgle and leak when about half full down. I have tried various e-liquids in 70/30 50/50 PG-VG and even 90/10 VG based, still the same problem. Now I love the vapour production and the flavour from the bottom coil Protanks, but this problem drives me nuts, to the extent that I am using them less and less. This is a shame because they are great for taking to work with different flavours and they're cheap, but I suppose there lies the problem. Cheap....

Nope. Protank 2 work perfectly for me. But if there's not enough airflow, you could build up a vacuum, and suck juice out the bottom, I think.

Its one of the main reasons i moved away from Protanks and T3's etc. i just couldn't stand the leaking/gurgling anymore. Have you tried adding another flavour wick on top of the coil? My thinking is that if its getting too much juice and extra flavour wick may help.
Also what size ekowool or silica are you using. Iirc Shiny done a good guide on recoiling them and even a guide with microcoils in them.

I have microcoils in mine with cotton wool and have no issues what so ever. No flavour wicks or anything. I can vape them right down to no juice in the bottom.

Being pretty new to it all I've only had the one pro tank 2 but it leaked all through my mvp and killed it. My iclear hasn't leaked or the aspire one.

Had a long drive in the dark recently, vaping away on my aspire tank. When I got home I was amazed to see it was bone dry, I'd vaped the last drop without any gurgling! Maybe the exception that proves the rule though!

I've had nothing but trouble with my protanks, which makes me think there's something critically flawed with the design. Recoiling with cotton/microcoil is hit and miss for me. I've recently moved on to a combination of RBAs and iclear 30s and my vaping life has become a lot more hassle-free

I have never had a leaking problem with the usual suspects(evod&protank). About a month ago a friend that I recoil for complained(again) that she had dud atties(2 evod's&1 protank). I swapped all 3 for ones that had never leaked and sent her on her way with her nomal monthly batch of heads. I have been using the leaky ones, yet haven't had a single leak. My friend phoned yesterday, both evod's and the protank are the same as the other ones, leaking and gurgling. I am going to swap again for the now miraculously dry ones, knowing they will leak and gurgle in her hands. I don't know what people are doing wrong, but I am convinced these atties are ok. It has to be down to the user if more than one of them function perfectly for one user, then leak for another, then revert back to perfection.

Weird how leak from half way down, why is that?
I experimented with removing a flavour wick from protank mini coil and found yet again it leaked if you let it go too low. That's why I stopped doing it originally but just wanted to check, flows better than with extra wick and no leakage when kept fairly full mind.

I use protank 2's and no issues at all, I did move quickly from standard coils to microcoil and CW though. Idimagine they only leak if your wicking is incorrect. I tend to pre juice the wick after recoiling then fluff each side up so it fills the gaps either side it rests in. I figure you only want juice to the coil via the wick, if juice bypasses the wick then leaking is likely. Not sure if my theory is right but it works foe me

I have never tried micro coils and cotton, I must give it a try. I really like the vape from the Protank when everything is working well. Like I said before at their price point they're great for chucking around when working etc.

I have never had a leaking problem with the usual suspects(evod&protank). Me neither . . . and tempting fate, I don't have issues period with dry hits/leaking all the things that I read others having. The only real ' problems ' that I've had with any of my vaping gear, has been with rebuildables. But that's been due to my own ineptitude in the re-coiling department. Get the coils right and the problems have gone away. Yet I don't do anything special, none of this cleaning/dry burning malarkey, fill/use and vape is all I do. At most I wipe the atomiser contacts regularly to keep them clean and dry, but that's it. It's a mystery to me.

I already have a growing mound of coils that really should have a look at doing this, especially if can be better than stock!
