Hi Screwdriver Users,
I've just got a Screwdriver Mk 11 - a lovely black one.
The problem is, the button is rock solid and won't budge. There is a screw in interior of the battery case. Do I have to unscrew it? I didn't have to do this with my Mk1.
Any advice/instructions before I do something that might wreck it!!
Liz

Have you removed the button cover?

What a fool I am!!! I didn'trealise that the Mk11 had such a high tech improvement as a button cover!!!
Thank you so much Hissie.
I'm just off to get a cherry stoner to see if it will de-stone my damsons and then I'm going to try it out.
Thanks again. Liz

Liz - confession time here - you are not alone - I did exactly the same, or not, as was the case. But to be fair, the instructions do not alert you to the button having a cover that requires removing. Join me on the 'a-tad-stoopid-step'.

lol........ ive just got my new black mk2. prof: my atty spring is 3mm or so off centre, any tips on getting it straight. how much pressure can i apply in pulling it over. raggy............
with ref to the button cover: if you get some strong 30lb ish fishing line or fishing braid is better. take out the button screw (dont lose the spring). thread it into and out of the 2 holes in the sd body and the same with the cap holes. tie off with a neat knot. you then wont lose your button cover. if you hubby, son or grandson are fishers they will do this nice and neat for you. raggy..............

Lol! Even the Great Scott Bonner (igetcha69) thought he'd been sent a duff MKII SD to review before realizing there was a cap on the button. If no lanyard came with the SD then definitely attach the cap so that it doesn't get lost. It's a little annoying to have it dangling at first but it soon becomes second nature to tuck it between the fingers. When cleaning the SD it's a good idea to undo the internal screw to release the button, give the assembly a good wipe round and replace, making sure the screw is tight. I generally do this but recently after being lazy, the button popped off and but for a handy magnet I would have lost the spring. Fox
